| Olympus E-5 SLR Digital Camera |
|
This is the recently released top model for Olympus. This camera
is built like a tank, weather/ splash resistant and is a great step
forward for their DSLR line of cameras. The white balance seems to
be more accurate as well as the focus. I have just started to use
this camera, but so far I love it! |
|
| Olympus E-3 SLR Digital Camera |
|
This camera is considered to be the "Flagship" camera for
Olympus. It is water resistant with a metal alloy frame and built
like a tank. It is a bit heavy, but feels very solid and well made.
I bought the E-3 early in 2009 and really like it. It operates
similar to my E-510 below, but will take photos at the rate of five
per second. It also has more dynamic range than the E-510 and is a
lot more forgiving with the highlights. |
|
| Olympus E-510 SLR Digital Camera |
|
My first Olympus camera and it has not been a disappointment. I
bought it with the two kit lens, the 14-42mm and the 40-150mm. Most
of the photos in my gallery were taken with this camera. |
|
| Olympus - 12-60mm f/2.8-4 ED SWD Zuiko Zoom
Lens |
|
In my opinion, this is one of the best all around lenses
available. Olympus is known for their lenses and this lens is one of
the reasons why. Sharp at any setting. All you really need to be
concerned with is your focus and depth of field. |
|
| Olympus - 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 II Zuiko
Digital Zoom Lens |
|
This a great lens and was my favorite walk-around lens until I
bought the 12-60. |
|
| Olympus - 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 ED Zuiko Zoom
Lens |
|
This one of the best lenses for the money that is currently
available. It is extremely sharp at any setting. I would love to
have the 90-250, but it currently exceeds my budget. |
|
| Olympus - 9-18mm f/4-5.6 ED Zuiko Zoom Lens
|
|
Probably my greatest surprise of all my lenses has been the
9-18mm. I considered a few of the the more expensive wide-angle
lenses such as the 7-14mm and the 11-22mm, but this lens has really
performed for me. This lens is sharper and the colors are nicer than
I expected. I knew I would use this lens indoors and tight spaces,
but did not realize how great this lens is for landscapes. |
|
| Olympus - 14-42mm f3.5 - 5.6 Micro 4/3 Zoom
Zuiko Digital ED |
|
One of the kit lenses that came with the E-510. Not an expensive
lens, but is one of the reasons Olympus has a reputation for great
glass. Even their cheap lenses work really well. |
|
| Olympus - 40-150mm f/4-5.6 Zuiko ED Zoom
Lens |
|
One of the kit lenses that came with the E-510. Offers a little
more reach and when used with one of the teleconverters makes a nice
little telephoto package. You will need a lot of light because this
is not a fast lens. Not an expensive lens, but is one of the reasons
Olympus has a reputation for great glass. Even their cheap lenses
work really well. |
|
| Olympus - EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter Lens
|
|
I use this teleconverter on my 50-200 when I need maximum
telephoto. It works well, but does drop the light by a stop and I
usually need all the speed I can get. I only use it when I just
can't get any closer. |

| Olympus FL-50R TTL Shoe Mount Flash |
|
This flash can be remote controlled and is my favorite for all
around use. |
|
| Olympus FL-36R Shoe Mount Flash |
|
The smaller of the two flashes. Works well when you don't need
to light up a large area. |

|
|
| Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 |
|
This is what I use almost daily. It does a great job processing
photos taken in the "RAW" format. I take almost all of my photos
using the "RAW" format instead of the 'jpg" format due to the
greater dynamic range. This software takes some effort to learn, but
is much more capable that my first impression led me to believe. |

|
| Nik Software - Complete
Collection |
|
This photo-editing software is a plug-in I
use with Lightroom when I need a few more tools that are not offered
in Lightroom. Provides solutions for every step of the photographic
workflow and includes Dfine 2.0, Viveza, Color Efex Pro 3.0, Silver
Efex Pro, and Sharpener Pro 3.0 |
|
|
|
|
|
| Corel Paint Shop Pro XI |
|
Pretty good software, but will crash for no apparent reason and
does not support RAW files from my camera. I have to convert
everything to a format that this software will support to be able to
use it. I plan to move to Adobe Photoshop CS4 soon. |

| Tamrac Expedition 7 |
 |
Great bag! Holds all my gear while doing a great job of keeping
it safe. I made a turn too quickly in my golf cart one day and this
bag with all of my equipment rolled out into the middle of the road.
I turned around in time to see it going end over end down the
street. To my amazement, all of my camera equipment was fine, not a
scratch on anything. The bag was unfazed as well. I drive more
carefully now... |
|
| Tamrac System 3 |
 |
This was a great bag for my first Olympus Digital SLR, but after
the purchase of the 50-200 lens, it became too small. I still use it
for my backup camera, the E-510. |
|
| X-Rite ColorChecker Passport |
 |
This color calibration tool is a great help
if you are looking for more accurate and consistent color. This tool
is an add-in that I use with Lightroom 3 that enables me to get the
white balance very accurate which in turn allows me to get the
colors exactly right. I am taking a lot of photos of artist's
paintings and this is a great tool to get the colors of the
paintings accurate. |

| Elinchrom D-Lite 2 To Go
Lighting Kit |
|
Excellent Lighting for a small studio. I
also have the soft boxes. These lights work exactly as advertised
and are very easy to set up and control. |
